a blog goddamit

happy nag? oops, i mean nga?

=)

so i went to ultimate conditioning and pilates revolution on monday. the ult.cond. instructor ended with sidebrideges and dips which killed me!! and then pilates was harder than the first time -- resulting in my lower abs still aching after 3 days!

but i skipped the next 2 days, bc on tues i had to prepare for the dinner party i had last night. everything i made was healthy enough. hehehe. pork tenderloin over a spinach/cabbage salad. caribbean flavors (brown sugar, cumin, cinnamon, garlic, oranges) so it was sweet but not too fatty. also made goat cheese mashed potatoes! mmm! oh, and banana pudding, but i only had a spoonful of that.

tonight i'm going to chisel w/my favorite black flaming gay instructor, carl! he likes to break into booty shaking and pole dancing sometimes...

a good ache

i went to my first pilates class ever on monday night! it was "pilates revolution" which just incorporates a concave steering-wheel-shaped weight called a smart bell. the class wasn't as hard as i was expecting, but that might be bc i wasn't always "lifting the navel and bringing it closer to the spine." LOL my instructor was playing zero 7 and thievery during the class, so that was pretty relaxing overall. it felt so good stretching and balancing alot, so....

i took a yoga class for the first time in almost a year last night! now THAT was a work out. sweat was dripping off my face and shoulders during all my downward dogs. i had to leave my glasses off bc they were just barely hanging on to my ears. =)

after yoga, i took chisel with sarina jain (she's the jane fonda of the indian world, apparently). i took her bhangra class once and it was so much fun (moving our shoulders and twirling around!), but i felt like i was going to die, my heart was pumping SO hard. i should've remembered how hard she made us work, bc during chisel i couldn't even use the 8lb weights like i'm used to lately. 5lbers for me!

today, my chest, biceps, rhomboids, lats and hamstrings are sore... and it feels like i've actually accomplished something.

scheduling

wow you girls sound like you're doing GREAT! i'm inspired even more now. :)

instead of just going to any class that sounds cool at the moment, i'm going to pick out my classes in the beginning of the week and try to stick to it! ultimate conditioning, chisel, fat burning pilates are the ones i'd like to go to... and maybe beach body bootcamp if i can fit it in. haha figuring out which gym to check out and when... feels like i'm in school again.

anyway, i feel fat today -- and all weekend too. prolly comes from doing nothing but watching tv and keeping cool inside.

but hopefully after tonight, some part of my body will be aching!

easy smoothies

i've recently discovered bolthouse farms juices -- all natural, and no sugar added. it's a good alternative to adding expensive organic fresh fruits to your smoothies all the time. and so far, i've tried 3 different flavors (green goodness, berry boost, and c-boost), and they all taste great!

example: this morning, i made a smoothie with green goodness, nonfat milk, nonfat vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, lots of flax, and ice. it was very subtle, like peanut butter on apples. and the best part is that robert will actually drink them too! no leftovers!

available at walgreens, costco, mollie stone's, and ralph's in the bay area...

hiatus

i took a repreive from confessing my sins... but i can't hold back no more! i skipped the gym two days in a row. i have no excuse for monday. tuesday -- walking to/from the javits center with about 25lb of food in bags is tiring in itself, but when you add 88 degree heat and humidity?? ugh. also, i ate some pretzel snacks yesterday and lots of chocolate samples. couldn't help it. vosges haute chocolate for free?! lucky i wasn't shoveling it down!

otherwise, i've been good food-wise:
smoothie this morning, then optimum rebound cereal for snack, rye crackers and tuna salad for lunch, beets and potato salad for snack, and some almonds. 2 cups of coffee (milk and splenda), and tons of water.

and if we're talking about hot men: male model was in the elevator with us. he takes out his portfolio and starts flipping through it, apparently for no reason. gloria told me i stopped in mid-speech, staring, but i don't remember this. =) HOT body, cute face -- looked latin but spoke perfect english. my height, so i guess that's too short for me, but perfect for nga!

three little piggies

i don't think any of us were good this weekend. nonstop eating: banana pudding , ice cream, brownies, madeleines, beer, chips. damn you nga for bringing so much fat into my apt.

i made it to the gym on saturday, and it was GOOD! my instructor for chisel came over to correct my form, saying "that's right, i wanna feel your arms SHAKE!" like jelly they were.

on sunday, my abs were sore so i felt like i was really full all day. didn't stop me from eating everything in that list above.

kristina, nga showed us your business card -- and i want my legs to look like yours!! nice definition!! =)

progress!

had my chisel class last night, and then the treadmill for 20 min. my legs were tired, they felt like lead. wasn't a fun time.

i only had 2 glasses of RED wine after working out last night. not bad considering all the guys i was with kept on pressuring me to drink. sighhh. the whole dilemma of not wanting to go to bars to avoid temptation versus staying at home and being anti-social.. for a diet? but anyway, nga says i have to be more positive, so here goes: both bars filled my wineglass to the rim, but i'd have to say the shiraz at lunasa was better than the merlot at piano's.

i measured my waist this morning! down 1.25 inches since early may! yay!!

been good with food today -- seafood salad, smoothie, and trail mix so far... and a few pringles.

japanese for me too!

the food ordering was taken out of my hands bc terisa ordered for all of us. ummm... so i had bits of fried food (fish ball and octopus dumpling), a little yakisoba, some tuna/avocado salad, tiny portion of unagi w/tofu, and one slice of seared steak. i managed to avoid all the sake and beer though.

i think we are getting obsessed with food more than body image. at least that's true for me! i don't have a body fat monitor that i check everyday! ^_~
